Tainan Restaurants
Papaya Thai restaurant is one of my favorite restaurants in Tainan. I love the Chicken curry and pad Thai there. The prices initially turned me off, but when I saw the portions and tasted how good things were, I realized my money was not going to waste.

Excellent food, but a bit
Excellent food, but a bit overpriced. Tom Yam Khoong (super hot shrimp soup), is $240 here, and $180 elsewhere.
I felt it was one of the
I felt it was one of the cheaper places compared with other Taiwanese run Thai restaurants. The reason was the quantity of the food.
There's a great, cheap place
There's a great, cheap place near Tainan Park....the same road as Rolling Stone pub, keep going a little further [in the direction of the Armory], to the next or next street, turn left at the 7/11, drive on 20 - 40 meters and it's on your left with a sign in Thai, opposite a white walled temple. Very good and cheap, no decor and no ambience, but clean. And no English menu, but the Chinese is simple - beef, chicken, pork and so on.
Closed on Mondays and packed at the weekends with Thai workers.
Beware the one on the street before - The Red Ant, with a Thai flag outside and dirty carpet inside. They copied the menu but not the cook.

That place is good too. And more authentic as Thai workers will flock there and get drunk on Sunday afternoons. The panang (panang gai) chicken curry is good at both places. Also good at both is the basil chicken (ge pao gai). The pad thai and tom Yum soup is better at Papaya Thai IMO. IS ther a chance that you could get the address and name of the other place and add it to the directory. It is a very good option if you are in that part of town. Both places do close earlier though (around 9 or 10) I think so they aren't a good after work choice.
