Tainan Revenue (Tax) Office
Tainan Government
This is the place you need to go and file your taxes. Bring the slip of paper(s) from your school(s) and they will even help you fill out your tax return. Returns come at the end of the year (Augustish).
If you don't have all of the slips, they should have a record of them so make sure you tell them you might not have them all and they can help you out.
It is very likely that you will get money back if you have been paying taxes all year, so do it. I have received as much as NT 40,000 for my taxes before.
The deadline to file (as of 2008) is May 31st.
Address:
Located on the small street next to the police office on the train station traffic circle.

I have never taken my
I have never taken my documents to the 6th floor before. Always done right on the first floor. Just walk on in, get a number, and go wait for the lady to call it. This lady has been there every time for me in the past several years. I always tell her I'll see her next year when I leave. I should start writing her Christmas cards... You get to go to the 6th floor! You must have the VIP pass.
Oh, dang. You're absolutely
Oh, dang. You're absolutely right. The handing over of the forms does happen on the first floor. My bad.
The sixth floor is only for more complicated tax situations and for the champagne/hot tub party.
They are really nice and
They are really nice and friendly. I suppose it depends on who you talk to there. I taled to Lu, Hsia-Mei. She even helped me fill out the tax form. Everything was filed and done within 35 minutes. Extremely professional person. Try that with IRS or Revenue Canada, you'll end up pulling all your hair out with all those crazy forms!!
She is the same lady that is
She is the same lady that is always there. She has been for several years as well... we should take her out a few times so she can "help" us even more on our taxes... hehehe
She has a very nice
She has a very nice personality and was kidding around with me, that I should visit her more often!! I replied, who is insane enough to see the taxman/taxlady every week? hehehe. Ya, you are right, she is a nice person, I would love to ask her out for lunch, to thank her.
Do I need an earnings
Do I need an earnings statement from my school? Or can I just go to the tax office with my passport and ARC
Your school must provide you
Your school must provide you with a Tax slip. Wages paid from Jan 1st 2010 until Dec 31st 2010.
Just make sure what they paid matches up to what they claimed and that taxes deducted match up as well. I can't even count how many times I've heard bosses over taxing and under claiming income.
