Just got back from the Chi Mei Museum in Ren De. For the uninitiated, it's Southern Taiwan's best collection of,..., jeebus, everything displayable.

It was great and now it's even better. Like Picasso? They've got some early ceramics. I recognized the dove on one of the plates as the rather iconic one from his anti-WWII protest, Guernica. Don't like Picasso? How about El Greco or Rodin? Mostly European art but a vast prospective dating from early Renaissance to contemporary.

If you're not into artsy-smartsy, they've got an incredible display to make even the most jaded taxidermist salivate. Okay, the new display of the orchestra of stuffed rabbits being led by a stuffed squirrel conductor was just freaking out of place in this otherwise hallowed display but there's something for everyone.

Weapons buff? They've got Japanese and western weapons and armor.

Want to learn the difference between Egyptian vs. Chinese mummies?

Need to prime up on musical instruments from the Baroque to the Rockola jukeboxes of Americana yore?

Budding archaelogist?

Butterfly lover?

Just wanna browse high quality reproductions in the gift shop for your new pad?

The list goes on.

If you haven't been, go. If you haven't been lately, go. If you just got back this morning, go again. I know I will.

Appointments are necessary but easy to obtain.
