address?

I used to live two blocks from this place and never went in because it looked like a ghost town. But if you live on the east side it would be a good casual pub with cheap drinks. People should go.

I don't know the exact address, but it's on Yi Dong Road between Dong Ning and Kai Xuan. It's fairly close to Wan Ke Lou, but on the next street west and about two blocks in from Dong Ning.

I just discovered this place a few weeks ago with a group of NCKU students who go there. It was close by so we just rode our bikes down Linsen Lu then thru that park. There is a bike path in the park. It was pretty cool at night. The bar was really nice and the other people there were nice, too. The French music was interesting. Free pretzels and other snacks, but only a couple of other foods. That was okay with us because the buy three get one free beer deal was what we were after. We will definitely go back.

we go to cheers a couple of times a month and really like the owner and the other customers. there are usually a few english teachers, grad students, local business people and once in awhile some foreign engineers/travelers. casual and sort of professional, yet homey. good music. nice place.

It was really a shame to find as few people here as we did. Went for the first time last night and were greeted by the owner who we ended up talking to for several hours. He can speak English very well as well as Mandarin and Taiwanese and sells four drinks for the price of three, which can end up saving a ton more money than the other bars around town. The place is admittedly small but dark and cozy with nice lighting and second story view of the street below. It's locally owned and low key so no, not a typical foreigner bar in Tainan. If you can manage Taiwan Beer though, it seemed to be a genuinely welcoming a friendly environment. Definitely recommend it and will be going back.

Is it a smokey bar or breathable?

It's not as bad as some places. Smells of smoke when you walk in and your clothes might a bit the next day. Not thick with it though, I hate smoke and forgot about it after a while.
