Groups are a function of this site that allow people that have similar interests to get together and have discussions. If you click on the groups link, you will see all of the groups available and then click on subscribe to join the group.

To create a new group, in the left sidebar, under create content is a link for
groups. Click there or the use the previous link.

Here you can add a new group of your choice.

To post to a group, create a discussion . You will see check boxes for all of the groups you are subscribed to under the content box, in the groups category.

**If you select any groups, you will only post to the specific group that you have selected and not anywhere else (you will be able to see it but toher that aren't in the group will not).

**If you don't select any group, it will show up on the main page (and not in a group) and everyone will be able to view it.

One benefit of using a group is that conversations can be kept to members of the group only, posted to several groups at once, or posted to all groups and all members of the site on the main page.

****Don't forget that if you aren't logged and subscribed to a group, you will not be able to see all of the discussions within that group.
