From the painful sounding "fistball" (not misspelt) to the unacclaimed "boules sports", the Olympics of mysterious, mutant hybrids of the sporting world is almost upon us.

I've actually seen the acrobatic Tchoukball in Thailand, a game played on a badminton style court but using a rattan ball kicked by players doing incredible gyrations and leaps. Surprisingly mesmerizing and full of skill.

There's also something called rugby, whatever that is.
