What is Basic Aid? Basic Aid is a two day charity concert being held on May 31st/June 1st at the beautiful natural venue Step Out Adventure Mountain in Puli,Taiwan. This fund raiser has two missions: To give to Basic Human Needs - an organization in Varanasi, India, run by two former Taichung expats who have been giving hope to underprivileged children through their school and orphanage. It is for a great cause. To learn more about Basic Human Needs go to: www.basichumanneeds.net This year Basic Aid will also be working closely with Taiwanese Aboriginal organizations.

In my estimation, The May
In my estimation, The May Jam, Basic aid, and The Peace Festival are the three major must see music festivals in Taiwan.
Thanks for the credit you
Thanks for the credit you are giving the May Jam, and the others of cause too.
The way how I see it, as someone who has lived and performed for may years here in Taiwan, all three have one interesting feature some other events diverted from, the one stage policy.
It feels like the camp fire, everyone is sitting around the same light sours, hears the same stories, songs and lame jocks we all laugh about.
Also they have in one or other way a social element, that goes beyond the having a good time with music and friends, they reflect somehow our need to promote the better part of us.
For the Tainan May Jam though, I'd like to caution a bit, that next years Jam is highly unlikely, "IF",...
a very big "IF" several factors have not been solved to my satisfaction, A) the coast gets cut down (got already one offer, but the devil lies in the details), B) the promotion is guarantied, people/organization would really put a foot down (so far no clear offer), C) the location gets cleaned up and we don't sit in the absolute dirt, D) someone takes care of the governments financial support.
Cheers
Axel
Hey, hey there, what's this
Hey, hey there, what's this about "IF"?
There are many people who would help out I'm sure. You've got support of local artists, clubs and the TainanBulletin behind you 100%. Let's just start a bit earlier next year, heck right now if you want.
Figure out what needs to be done and get some volunteers to work on each of the goals that you have set above.
We can even start up a "May Jam 10" group on the tainanbulletin.com to organize everything. Lots of people have enjoyed it and I'm sure they also have suggestions on how to make the anniversary show the biggest and best one yet.
