Hey there, I started a topic

Hey there,

I started a topic like this a while back. Try the Mexican Pizza at Mexico to Go.

Check here for the old topic:

http://www.tainanbulletin.com/chat/pizza-tainan/345

There are three good places

There are three good places for pizza actually. All three are quite different but all good great even. Mexico to Go has a different take on pizza. Willy's Second Base is making brick oven pizzas.
And, my place Tin Pan Alley has a hand made Sourdough or a Whole Wheat curry infused crust with never less than 5 choices of sauces and usually about 6 cheeses to choose from and most of our toppings are made by us and usually include a smoked Indian curried meat or veggies and always BBQ chicken, BBQ beef, and South African Sausages and South African cured meats (similar but superior to peperoni). If you want a hand crafted pie that is like no other try Tin Pan Alley's. If you like an indoor pub atmosphere try Willy's, it's a superbly cool bar as well. If you are in the mood for something lighter and you are on the run check out Mexico to go, it's all good. Darin the Pizzaguy

Oh, and our pies are cooked with an open flame. Fire baked! Tin Pan stylee.

Never tried Willys Pizza.

Willy's makes the best

Willy's makes the best "traditional" North American style pizza. Tin Pan makes a lighter, dare I say healthier pizza which is not short on taste. Couldn't pick one over the other. Depends on my mood. Both world class in my opinion. It's nice to finally have great pizza in Tainan.

Yep, I just tried Willy's

Yep, I just tried Willy's the other day, it is world class. Definitely more traditional than what we do, but there ya go. You can get traditional or fusion pizza now in Tainan. Pizza lovers unite. I am working on a New York style traditional pizza though, and my first effort was pretty amazing. The crust was light and fluffy and still crisp and delicious. I simply love pizza it's so versatile like a canvas.

Tin Pan has been on a soft

Tin Pan has been on a soft opening until this coming week. We will finally get our real menu out and show you what all we can do, not only with a pizza, but we'll offer you Hotdogs, Sandwiches, Hamburgers, Mexican wraps, Tacos, Burritoes, and CHICKEN WINGS! We'll have about 15-20 normal pizzas to choose from and of course you can build your own and create anything you can imagine. Our coolest so far was the Foie Gras, goat cheese, capers, and caramelized onion. That was fun. Our special this week is smoked Indian Beef Vindaloo in a spicy sauce topped with roasted peppers and English white cheddar cheese. Yum, Darin

When I want some pizza, not

When I want some pizza, not too expensive (for sure not the best pizza), I like to go to Napoli.

For around 439 NT, you get a large pizza + a cheese cake + a bottle of soft drink. The cheese cake is good. They also have some other cheaper combos. They have some pizza with corns and stuff like that. But there is also two or three kind of pizza that are similar to western pizzas without corn and stuff like that.

Of course, this may not be the best pizza in town, but I like it, and the cheese cake is good.

I go to Napoli for cheap

I go to Napoli for cheap pizza, too. Way better and way cheaper than Pizza Hut or Dominos. Willy's is way better than all those of course, but when you just want to pick up a pizza on the way home, Napoli does alright by me.

This is their chinese website: http://www.0800076666.com.tw/

According to the website, there is just two addresses in Tainan:

台南市北區成功路12號1.2樓 (06) 228-0880

台南市東區東寧路264號 (06) 238-0998

And the Google Map:

There also a place near the DongNing Rd and Shengli Rd intersection. She bakes it in a brick oven right in front of you (well it's cement, actually, but still has the same charm and effect).
The pizzas are small personal size and I usually need two to feel full, but they are incredibly cheap, about 80NT per pizza.
She speaks english so you can call ahead, usually takes 15 minutes so by the time you're there it's ready to pick up.

Directions:
From DongNingRd, turn south on ShengLi Rd.
Turn left onto the first lane (Lane 52 ShengLi Rd), right across from Sacred Heart Church.
The pizza place is on the left a few stores in.

Napoli Pizza is good at

Napoli Pizza is good at reasonable price. 50 Dollar Pizza is good for a snack and has lots of other pasta favorites. Want to try Willie's Second Base. Nothing like my native New York pizza though.

Willy's is the best place

Willy's is the best place for "real" pizza. I have had many pies, and every one was excellent. I also like Napoli's, as it cheap...but when you consider the the quality, Willy's is the place to go if you are keen on pizza. And their drinks are always stout, which makes it the easy choice if you want a night out with your girl. And on top of that Alun and Andy are about as friendly as they come....so, the choice is simple.

Best,

Average Joe
