I wanted to ask the same thing. Jesus, I don't even know how to fish. Maybe you can teach me guy. I tried fishing for shrimps, six times...caught nada..6 times guy!

I'll have to find a place close to Tainan first. I did see a few people fishing at Zhongshan park but I prefer a spot outside the city (just to get away from all the people).

OK. Clean water is a tough call, and the only way to know would be to test it yourself. Now, I have seen places to fish and people fishing at places.

1. The park downtown. Saw a guy catch an 8 inch fish this weekend, and he immediately slapped it on a makeshift barbecue. That water seems nasty.

2. The bridge in An Ping. Lots of fishing rods set up there in the estuary.

3. Homemade fishing lake. Nearly across the street from the golden beach strip, 3 hours could run about NT 800. The water is always questionable.

4. Go fishing for prawns at one of the indoor small swimming pool places. I've been many many times, and as ugly as the water is, those prawns taste so great after 2 hours of drinking beer.

Never fished for prawns before.

However, did you know that shrimp eat the crap off the bottom. Not the garbage but the actual crap from fish and things. Kinda' makes the stomach a bit queezy.... knowing that something is eating that big crap you took yesterday..... but 'dem prawns taste soooo.... good.

They eat anything at the bottom. bottom feeders. You can use chunks of chicken hearts or little baby shrimp to entice them into their doom.

I love shrimps!! Now, looking back, I was thinking - almost all the restaurants, anywhere on this planet, neither have the time, nor do they bother to devein the shrimps before cooking them. So, in a nutshell, I have been eating shrimps, complete with the veins with the s### in them!!! And, it doesn't end there...so if these shrimps are eating someone else's s###.....jesus, God only knows, whose crap I have been eating all these years!!! heh

Shrimp fishing is kinda fun in the way watching a ball game is. You get to sit around for while and ham it up with your friends and you get an exciting catch every once in a while.

I have some funny experiences at these shrimp fishing places. I usually go real late at night, when I can't sleep. Many a times, I am sitting there alone, with my silly fishing rod, trying to catch something...anything!! (just kidding). Haven't caught a single shrimp yet.......but, have been approached by plenty of pimps, who observe a stupid foreigner, at 3 AM, sitting alone, having beer, and 'trying to catch something.' That's the deal with that huge place in the Ang ping area. Trust me, you won't be left alone there for long, once you set up camp.
