Podcasts

If you've been online for a while, listen to audio or watch video on the internet and you're not getting podcasts, let me tell you, you've been missing out. (More info at the bottom if you need help)
For those of you that have, what are you downloading? What are some good ones out there?
Here are some of my music favorites:
Classical Music Spotlight
http://blog.naxos.com/tag/naxos-classical-music-spotlight/
Hosted by a Canadian ex-French horn player that has been a classical music fan since, as a primary schooler, racing home to play Shostakovich records over and over. His introduction to music is infectious in its light-hearted though insightful presentation. He reviews new cds of everything from oldies, Purcell, to modern composers, Kenneth Fuchs, to off-the-beaten-tracks like the guitar music of Chile. He also frequently interviews composers and musicians. I cannot recommend this highly enough.
Mashup Town
http://www.mashuptown.com
Mashups are two tunes taken and mixed together. Usually of very different genres and usually with entertaining if not amusing results. A bit hit or miss but hey, it's free.
UC Radio
http://www.ucradiopodshow.com/ or the more sarcastic: http://www.bitemefcc.com/
This guy's a rock and roll nut but there's the occasion gem from different genres. Also available on the fly online. I'm listening to it right now.
More recommendations soon. Coming up: free books, tech, science, food and recipes, funny stuff, stuff for kids and documentaries.
If you want to subscribe to any of these, the easiest way is through itunes. Go to the sites listed above and you'll find links. You can also find them through itunes.

Documentaries and News
BBC DOCUMENTARIES
Wow, I just finished listening to the latest podcast Documentaries, put out by the venerable BBC. It was a fascinating look at race and reconciliation in South Africa 14 years after the liberation.
Topics vary greatly discussing everything from the culture of Tango in Argentina to Russia in the post-KGB era to environmental refugees in New Zealand.

SCIENCE WITH DR. KARL
My friends from down under never told me about this science wizard. Dr. Karl knows everything about well, everything and gives answers to all things scientific without being pedantic. A live show on BBC Radio 5. In the latest episode Dr Karl tells us how to use a bra to survive a terrorist attack and explains the difference between LCD and plasma screens.
