Have you won any money in the Taiwan National Receipt Lottery?
Back in the day it seemed easier to win, and I would pull in at least 200-400 every time because of the many receipts I had from 7-11 and the like. The longer you are in Taiwan, the less 7-11 should be a factor in your life everyone still must get some receipts from convenience stores every month. I didn't always play though, figuring it was more trouble than it was worth.
Then, a foreigner showed me a system of folding the tickets right away and then popping them in my wallet. Then when the wallet was full they get transfered/rubber banded together (all taking minimal time) and when the winning numbers are out you can see the numbers on your tickets clearly and easily. Then it takes about 5 - 10 minutes to check all of your receipts. The first time I did it I won NT 1,000 so I figured hell yeah it was worth it to organize and check the receipts, which would take about 15 minutes total time for the two months of each lottery drawing.
I was curious if anyone has any stories about the lottery. Have you won anything? Do you bother playing? Has there been a decline in winning the past few years (I believe there has been).

Ya, for the first 8 months
Ya, for the first 8 months in Taiwan, I didn't even know those receipts were lotteries, so I simply threw them away! Now, I just won $200 - AND, LOST THE RECEIPT! Goes to show that lightning CAN HIT TWICE!

likewise, bugsy - had no idea for the first year - now my flat is full of the buggers! i've won a few $200 but nothing much, despite the stories of friends of friends who win 10,000 every other month. can't hurt to check them though, eh?

I give all of mine to my wife and she wins usually between $400 and $1200 every month. I think in the seven years I have been here, she has only not won something about 10 times.
