Flooding in Tainan

Jazz's picture

I left for work today about 4:30 and was forced to take several detours because of the rain and flooding. On Jong Shan Road (going towards Yong Kang) I was riding through about a foot of water for an extended period. Several cars were in deeper areas and stalled. It was insane. Does anyone else have any stories about todays floods?

The center and west side of

The center and west side of town looked okay today. A few puddles here and there but pretty good in general.

Terrible consequence to my

Terrible consequence to my braving it through that flood on Thursday. The alternator on my scooter died (because it was basically submerged in the water while driving) and my scooter wouldn't start.

I ended up paying 1500 bucks for the luxury of blasting through the waves and going to work, where I made, hey..., about 1500 bucks.

I think I learned a lesson though. Next time I will NOT go through a flood to go to work. I will turn around and calmly go home to celebrate my time off.

And I thought I had bad luck

And I thought I had bad luck during the rains. Proudly walking in pouring rain, no care for the floods, generally being stupid about the consequences of being drenched. Ended up at home, last 3 days, with an extremely high fever, and doctors bills. And, am still here with classes to teach tomorrow. Jesus!

I would say getting really

I would say getting really sick is worse. Although I was made to pay with time as well, as I waited for the man to fix the bike twice.

I had my helmet on and was ready to go only to find the part was a lemon, and he had to fix it again, along with going to the store to buying the new new part.
