I've had simple Konica shops accidentally cross-process my slide film. Boy was I unhappy. Most of the shops should be able to cross-process it, but it's really a matter of how high-quality you need your scans to be. Most of them don't have great scanners.

yeah, i've run into that other places. i thought there might be a specialty toy camera/art photog place in town...
