BUFFALO WINGS-SUICIDE CHALLENGE

Anyone know of any places, where they serve the best Buffalo wings, I mean super suicide sauce, the kind you get in the States? Haven't tried the Suicide Challenge in years!! That sauce itself is killer, made out of Jamaican hot peppers.

Hahaha. It is difficult

Hahaha. It is difficult enough to find the standard wings sauce (I think it is a mix of Tabasco sauce and butter).

I had standard wings at TGIF and they were good, but they were really skimpy on the sauce. It was like they glazed the sauce on them rather than have them dripping with the stuff.

So, to answer your question, no, I don't know where you can get suicide sauce for your wings. Karen from Mexico to go might know where you can get some killer hot sauce though.

Oh yeah, and if you know of a place with great wings, please share. I miss them a lot. ;)

Cool. Me too. Ya, I ordered

Cool. Me too. Ya, I ordered them at TGIF a few times and agree with you. You can barely see the sauce on the wings - forget about SUICIDE!! I have instructed them in Chinese, at TGIF, whenever I order the wings, I need 5 small containers of their sauce. Its like - carved in stone. They have NEVER given me 5 extra small containers, but they do put 2 extras, in front of me. hehehehe Of course, they expect me to buy the usual $350 cocktails, to jack up the bill!!! TGIF is something else. One dinner, one cocktail, you are looking at $700.

If you're a DIYer, you can

If you're a DIYer, you can try making that at home for a fraction of the TGIFriday's price (yikes!). You can often get those tiny chicken parts at Carrefour or local supermarkets, glaze them with this, bake em for about 30 mins (check for doneness) at 325 (*F, sorry, Iowa girl not know *C), and then drench them in the leftover sauce after baking. Ingredients might take a Hanshin or Costco trip though...

Adjust the spicy ingredients to taste.

INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 cups prepared yellow mustard
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup cider vinegar
3/4 cup beer
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon freshly ground white pepper
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons butter, room temperature
1 1/2 teaspoons liquid smoke flavoring
1 teaspoon Louisiana-style hot sauce, or to taste

DIRECTIONS
In a heavy non-reactive saucepan, stir together the mustard, brown sugar, vinegar, and beer. Season with chili powder and black, white, and cayenne peppers. Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat, and cook for about 20 minutes. DO NOT BOIL, or you will scorch the sugar and peppers.
Mix in the Worcestershire sauce, butter, and liquid smoke. Simmer for another 15 to 20 minutes. Taste, and season with hot sauce to your liking. Pour into an airtight jar, and refrigerate for overnight to allow flavors to blend. The vinegar taste may be a little strong until the sauce completely cools.

Sounds like a plan. Now

Sounds like a plan. Now would you be coming over to help us prepare that kinda "sauce?" heh

Jeebus, this thread has me

Jeebus, this thread has me salivating. I combed the web for recipes. There are lots of course but they all have some things in common. Indulge me for a bit while I offer this pared down recipe that I put together, a la Dr. Frankenstein, from bits I found on different sites. I'm going to try it out this Sunday and I'll let you know how it works out.

INGREDIENTS:
Wings
3 TBS. butter
hot sauce (tabasco is the most popular. It has heat and vinegar)
2 tsp catsup (optional)
3 TBS worcheshire sauce (optional)
Salt and pepper
Oil for deep frying
Blue cheese dressing for the dip

PREP:
1. Cut off the tips of the wings and then cut into two parts, the two bone part and the "drumette".
2. Wash and dry thoroughly. (One site recommended putting them on a rack and leaving them to dry in the fridge.)

THEN:
1. Take out the wings. Season with salt and pepper.
2. Deep fry 6-8 minutes in batches so the wings will not stick.
3. Meanwhile, melt butter to mix with the hot sauce at a ratio of 1:1 hot sauce/butter for med heat, 2:1 for spicy and 3:1 or higher for folks with a death wish.
4. Pour the sauce onto cooked wings and enjoy.

Foreignemmy, sounds like you're an old hand at this. Any tips?

BTW, went to TGIF's. The best thing that I can say about it is that I left very full. NT$600 lighter, but my belly was bulging. The food is very flavorful but in a "wow, that's a lot of flavor!" but oddly unsatisfying overall.

TGIF has something called a platter for two, I think around $450. Thats not too bad. I went to this AMERICAN HOME MADE FOOD place. Just opened, can't remember the address. Its an "all American" ambience. Plays Beatles, plenty of Marlyn Monroe posters, Harley Davidson and like. Owner recommded a chicken dinner - sucked!! hehehehe

Customers were mostly locals with families.

I don't have the address on me.

LOL sounds tasty! My mom

LOL sounds tasty! My mom used to use a similar recipe on the grill and it's fabumatic! You can also use that sauce to roast. I'd add minced garlic. When frying I prefer to coat the chicken with flour or breadcrumbs to preserve juices. And don't overfry the chicken (as in, cook for a longer time at a lower temp) or the juices will escape into the abyss of oil. Leaving you sad and destitute. Of juices.

Yeah, I got a thing for chicken. Gotta respect the chicken. Can't resist a thread about chicken!

Good one!! In any case, your recipe sounds damn good!! Will try it one of these days. I remember watching a professional chef make that sauce. He first bought this huge bottle of Louisiana chilli sauce, used it as a base, added vinegar, super hot red peppers and other stuff to it, and brought it to a boil.

Foreignemmy, I haven't been

Foreignemmy, I haven't been to the Costco in K.S. yet. But the plan is to look for this huge bottle of Louisiana Red Chilli Sauce. I will recognise the bottle when I see it. The liquid is THICKER than the small commercial bottles you buy off the shelf. I mean, I am sure that bottle has like a gallon of that thick red chilli sauce. I have watched some chefs work with it back in North America. They pour the stuff in a container and add vinegar, fresh Jamaican peppers, crushed red pepper, and other stuff to it, and bring it to a boil. But the base still remains that huge bottle of the thick liquid, hopefully Costco might have it.

Went to TGIF (yet again, do

Went to TGIF (yet again, do we have a door number 5?), sorry folks, its called a Platter for Three, priced at $470 - not bad. Price mentioned earlier, was wrong. No, it does NOT feed three people. Good enough for two. Ask them for extra suicide sauce, they usually tell ya they will charge you for it, BUT, they don't (as of last evening). Its mostly butter, and no, its not suicide, simply hot sauce. Seriously looking for a good bowl of home made chilli. Willys chilli DOES NOT CUT IT (tastes like garbage, but the crackers are REAL - from Carrefor). And, its not on TGIF's menu. Any leads?

Just made the above recipe.

Just made the above recipe. Turned out okay but I think I'll go with foreignemmy's idea and bake them. The flavor was just on the outside. Tasted okay though. I'll keep working on the recipe.

  Hey guys, Candy at 515

Hey guys, Candy at 515 American Kitchen makes a mean suicide sauce! Not exactly meant for chicken wings, but if you are into super flaming sauces, you can buy some off her! Way better than all the garbage sitting on the grocery store shelves. She gets these "super charged" chilli peppers, from some place, and grinds those suckers into an existing base of hot sauces!

One of the hot foods in the USA now is buffalo anything. Chicken sandwiches, burgers, and even pizza. It's buffalo heaven.

Very interesting~ Maybe

Very interesting~ Maybe because there is a new trend - Obama and his kids like Mexican food! Perhaps this whole "suicide" food craze is catching on due to that!! Many years ago, I went to a "Samoan" (country - Western Somoa) Restaurant in the States. Jazz, let me tell ya something - those wings, using Western Samoan sauce, were the wildest I have ever eaten! Very surprising! I never knew that the Samoans ate such S$$$$ hot food!
