Having a window issue with my car and the guy I usually go to is a bit far away in Yong Kang. Anybody know a place in Tainan City that won't rip me off?
There's a place on the corner of Zhong Hua West and Zhong Hua North road that I've taken my car to. Wasn't much cheaper than the Toyota dealer I usually go to though. It's actually on Zhong Hua North Road very near the bridge that goes towards Chi Gu.
Hell, I haven't been ripped off by anyone since I've been here. You speak a couple of words to them, ask them if they're offering you the cheapest price and they'll probably give you different options such as genuine parts or similar parts which is where the difference in price will be. Labor is like nothing. You can even ask them if you can get the part off an old car and they'll probably give you the up and up on if that's feasible.
You could always try searching for the fix on Youtube first. I always do a search here first if I need to fix something. It's worth a try and besides it's free for people who want to try a DIY fix.
I'd check out the price of the part first and then ask at the garage though. Chances are that the labor will be very low. They make money by charging retail on the part and then very little extra on labor. If you go armed with the price of the original part and the off brand part then you'll at least be in a position to negotiate the labor.
I'd like to proudly state that i got it fixed for free. I'd also like to add that I'm a fool because I didn't check the child proof switch that was inadvertently pressed by someone else during a seven eleven stop on the way back from the Peace Festival. The problem was the rear window not going down. D'oh!
